गांधारी (gāṃdhārī) [गांधारस्यापत्यं इञ् (gāṃdhārasyāpatyaṃ iñ)] N. of the daughter of Subala, king of the Gāndhāras and wife of Dhṛtarāṣṭra. [She bore to her husband 100 sons-Duryodhana and his 99 brothers. As her husband was blind she always wore a scarf over her face (probably to reduce herself to his state).
